What is a Public Access Television Channel?

Channel 58 is provided by Pine Tree Cable as a service to the communities it serves. Programs and announcements are carried over Pine Tree's Cable. The service is carried 24 hours a day.

Pine Tree Cable provides air time to the communities in its service area for public service announcements and local coverage of community events.

Troy Elementary School is the base for these broadcasts. Information, videos, and production of channel 58 services originate at Troy Elementary School.

What Does it Cost to Access Services on This Station?

Public Service announcements from Troy, Fitzwilliam, or Rindge which are of a public service nature, (example: An announcement of an upcoming meeting), may be run for free.

An advertisement for an event run by a non-profit organization to raise money (example: A dance being run by the school to raise funds for the benefit of a class), costs $5.00 per week to run.

Commercial advertisements cost $10.00 per week or $30.00 per month.

Advertising an event that is being broadcast is $25.00 per event. This price also includes a spot on the "Board" and the ad runs during any airing of the program. (example: Sponsorship of a town meeting video).

Troy Elementary School's Production Staff can work from several formats to present your message on channel 58:

1. A printed message: Your organization provides the school with a written message which is posted to the board by one of our production crew members. Messages should be 9 lines or less with no more than 30 characters/spaces per line for best results. Messages of 11 lines with 40 characters per line are available but not recommened.
2. Video produced by your local school: For airing at a specified time(s). Tapes should be designed and produced using the local school's TV crew.
3. Video designed and shot by our crew: Students and production crew adult members from our staff may be hired for special advertising or events. The cost for this would be negotiated prior to production.
