Curriculum

A Message to Parents:

The Monadnock Regional School District is committed to high academic standards for all students. This information is one of many ways that we will use to communicate with parents this year about our expectations for students. The outline of topics is representative of the learning planned for students at this grade level. By sharing this information with you, we hope that you will be better able to support your child's learning about these topics because you will know that they are planned as part of the year's program. The items listed are those taught by all teachers at this grade level. Your child's classroom teacher can give you much more detail about how and when these topics and others are planned.

Since the development and refinement of the curriculum are ongoing processes, the District continues to work on the curriculum and its alignment with the State frameworks. Parents of students in grades 4, 7, and 11 receive annually a report from the Commissioner of Education in October describing their children's individual results from the spring assessments. Parents of students in all grades are encouraged to ask teachers about their child's progress in meeting the standards on which the State test is based. Communication between parents and teachers is very important in order to serve your child successfully. Please do not hesitate to talk with your child's teacher if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions.

The District welcomes your comments and suggestions about this information and its contents. We wish you and your child a positive and productive school year.

Dr. David G. Hodgdon
Director of Curriculum and Instruction
