Physical Education

Maureen Lord

“Gym is a place.  Physical Education is a learning process that takes place in the gym.  I am not a gym teacher, but a Physical Educator.  In my Physical Education classes, academics are taught as well as physical fitness, socialization, team work, interpersonal reaction and the process by which an individual can cope with achievement as well as defeat.  There is much teaching going on and more learning in one period of Physical Education than one would ever imagine!”

Objectives/Goals for Physical Education

1.       Have fun!

2.       Exercise and be safe

3.       Learn through movement

4.       Try new things and have a positive attitude

5.       Good sportsmanship

My main focus for Physical Education class is to get my students moving.  I also want them to have fun and enjoy being physically active.  I love it when kids get excited about what they’ve learned and are looking forward to the next Phys. Ed. class.
