Writing
Students will:
- Write
simple and compound sentences (W – 4-1.1)
- Construct
a paragraph using indentation, main idea, and supporting details (W –
4.1.2)
- Produce
a written response to literary or informational text to show an
understanding of plot, ideas, and concepts (W – 4.2.3)
- Write
informational/expository pieces that show organization of ideas and
concepts by grouping ideas logically, using transition phrases, and
writing a clear introduction and conclusion to describe a procedure with
materials listed (W – 4.3.1 & 4.3.4) (W – 4.6.1 – 4.6.4)
- Write
a narrative including a story line with a series of events and plot with a
problem and solution (W – 4.4.1 & 4.4.2)
- Use
relevant and descriptive details to develop characters (W – 4.5.1 &
4.5.3)
- Use
appropriate language conventions such as capitals, end punctuation,
commas, and grade-appropriate spelling (W – 4.9.1 – 4.9.5)
- Establish
a topic, stating and maintaining a focus/controlling idea and provide
sufficient details or facts (W – 4.7.1 & 4.7.2) (W – 4.8.2 &
4.8.3)
