Cutler School Goals

 

1. Students will read strategically in a variety of genres as evidenced in discussion, written work, and assessment.

 

2. Students will develop a variety of note taking and study strategies to improve long-term retention of information as evidenced by unit tests and a variety of assessments.

 

3. Students will develop positive social interactions and relationships with peers as evidenced by the friendships they develop.

Mt. Caesar 2003-04 School Goals

 

All children will be known through:

 

I. The goal of technological literacy for all students: - development of technology curriculum

- pilot technology curriculum in the mini-lab setting

 

2. Engagement in a living, relevant curriculum:

- at the district and building level - will continue developmentally appropriate practices appreciating the individual learner and emphasizing life skills

- provide representatives to various district level committees developing curriculum

 

3. In the area of safe, clean, effective facility in which to learn we:

- will continue the gardening projects around the building as both a service learning activity for students and a contribution to the community

- will continue to study and implement safety procedures - including conduct code and Second Step for Violence Prevention

Emerson School Goals 2003-2004

 

These school goals align with Monadnock Regional School District Goals:

* While all goal areas are important and ongoing, we are choosing to have specific objectives in these areas during the 2003-2004 school year:

 

Goal area # 2

 

a. We will begin to prioritize our math curriculum, develop performance-based assessments in math, and come to agreement about what each grade level will target and assess each year in math.

b. We will offer in-house staff development in the area of writing instruction, and encourage teachers to integrate writing across the curriculum.

 

Goal area # 3 - We will schedule all intermediate classes for computer lab time focusing on keyboarding and accessing/sharing information. In-house staff development will be offered to support teachers.

 

Goal area #5 - We will continue to develop our Keene State College partnership hosting WEL program full-time interns. We will firm up roles/responsibilities, improve communication, and develop procedures and protocol between the college and Emerson. There will be support and training for mentors as well as for intern


Gilsum School Goals

 

1)      Every child in the Gilsum School Community will be provided a safe, secure, caring, and clean environment where students and families can learn and grow.

 

2)      Staff and students will work together to build a strong and humane school community helping all children rise to the level of their full potential.

MRHS Science Department Goals 2002-2003

 

The science department will:

 

1. Continue to revise and update all science curricula on a three-year rotating basis. The curricula will be current, relevant, and meaningful; preparing students to participate in society as knowledgeable citizens, and to pursue a career of their choosing.

 

2. Develop a department assessment which will monitor student growth and progress over the course of their high school career (through 10th grade). Student performance checklists for each grade level/course will be the mean meeting this goal.

 

3. Strive to better understand the students as learners so to provide and utilize instructional methods that are effective for all students.

 

4. Continue to implement the use of technology as an instructional tool; including the Vernier probes, and the internet (World Wide Web).

 

5. Continue to monitor and update safety standards and policies to ensure the safety of all students, faculty, and staff.

 

6. Continue to develop and implement student management procedures and policies so to maximize time on task and student achievement.

3) Continue development of our Evaluation and Assessment process in our Physical Education Program.

MRHS Foreign Language Department Goals

 

1. Open high school Level I to more of the advanced 8th grade students. This will allow us to continue to offer Level V to students.

2. Explore changing Level V French and Spanish to an AP class.

 

3. Continue to make modifications in curriculum, instruction, and assessment in order to enhance articulation between the levels.

 

4. Incorporate technology as appropriate into the foreign language curriculum.

MRHS SPECIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT GOALS

 

1. To increase knowledge of exceptional learners and continue to develop competencies necessary to meet their learning needs.

 

2. To continue to develop knowledge of techniques needed for teaching skills such as reading, communication, study skills, and problem solving that are essential for students with special needs to master content in regular classes and in their communities.

 

3. To broaden knowledge of various methods of teaching including the assessment of student progress.

 

4. To enhance existing knowledge of the legal ramifications surrounding special education laws and changes to those laws.

 

5. To study and implement the appropriate educational use and integration of technology for students with special needs.


MRHS Math Department Goals

 

1) To provide a curriculum and a variety of courses to meet the needs of all students:

*Students whose life work will require an extensive use of mathematics

*Students who need to strengthen their background so they can proceed to a higher level

*Students who will terminate their schooling at the end of high school and need a working knowledge of mathematics to become useful, productive citizens in a technological society.

MRHS Library Department Goals

 

1. To develop a K-12 information literacy curriculum and identify ways to link national, state, and local standards to this curriculum

 

2. To help students and staff access, process, and use information effectively and efficiently

 

3. To become more involved as a resource person in curriculum planning by showing how the information literacy curriculum dovetails with the curriculum work in language arts, math, science, and social studies (and other areas) and then providing support for staff members as they implement the curriculum

 


MRHS FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCE DEPARTMENT GOALS

 

1.      Set-up (bi)-yearly meetings for the FACS Advisory which will include members of the Guidance Department, Special Education Department, students, and parents/community.

 

2.      Continue to develop curriculum to align the FACS curriculum with the State and National Standards.

 

3.      Learn more about the inter-school/ department! web page/ computer-oriented communications.

 

4.      Have the opportunity to attend the State meetings (Fall & Spring) as a department to be able to see what new happenings and changes are being made in the F ACS area.

 

5.      Establish partnership within the community and businesses for those students interested in FACS-related fields for their future careers.

I. District Goals:

All children in the Monadnock Regional School District will be known.

Guidance Goal:

All students will be seen by their guidance counselor at least once individually and once in a group setting.

 

II. District Goal:

Each child in the Monadnock Regional School District will be engaged in a living, relevant curriculum.

Guidance Goal:

Students will be offered internship programming, career assessment/exploration, and college planning in grades 7-12. All students will learn problem solving, conflict resolution, and communications skills through peer interaction and processing in group and individual counseling.

 

III. District Goal:

Each child in the Monadnock Regional School District will be technologically literate.

Guidance Goal:

All students will learn the College Board ExPan program and the College View program to utilize for researching careers and colleges. All students will be encouraged to use the internet to research college and careers.

 

IV. District Goal:

Every child in the Monadnock Regional School District will be provided a safe, clean, effective facility in which to learn.

Guidance Goal:

The Monadnock Regional Junior High/High School crisis plan will be monitored and updated to meet the needs of the existing building, student population, student needs, and reflect societal changes.

 


MRHS Technology Education Department Goals

 

1)      Provide a safe learning environment for our students; teach our students how to safely and responsibly use the facilities and tools available to them in our classes.

 

2)      Work on aligning Departmental goals with NH's Technology Education Curriculum Guide. The Curriculum Guide is currently being revised by the NHTEA to correlate with the ITEA's "Standards for Technological Literacy"

 

3)       Prepare our students to understand, use, and maintain technological systems.

 

4)      Help our students develop their critical thinking and problem solving skills using a range of activities such as regular lab work, membership in extracurricular groups such as the Technology Student Association and Destination Imagination, and service learning projects.

 


MRHS Business Technology Department Goals

 

1. To enhance the selection of department-wide course offerings and offer them to a wider segment of the student population.

 

2. To increase the role of technology in all areas of the current curriculum and update said technology as it evolves to create new learning experiences.

 

3. To increase the use of authentic assessment instruments such as: student-generated presentations, portfolios, business simulations, cross-curriculum projects, and real life work experience in our curriculum.

 

4. To increase the integration of the business curriculum with the School-To-Work program by the use of speakers, internships, field trips, and job shadowing opportunities, thus using the community as your classroom. Continue to use F .B.L.A., Junior Achievement, and other types of organizations to expose students to more of these opportunities.

 

5. To instill in students desired work habits such as: punctuality, working within a group, communication skills, time management, work ethics, good attendance, and a healthy attitude toward work in general.

 

6. To meet the needs of every student by using a variety of teaching methods and assessment tools that will allow each student to be educated to their full potential.


MRHS FINE & PERFORMING ARTS DEPARTMENT GOALS

  

Goal #1

To explore the possibilities of developing a schedule to allow for team teaching in the performing arts, i.e., music and theater.

 

Goal #2

To develop a code of conduct and standards for students involved in the FPA extracurricular activities.

 

Goal #3

We need to reclaim a sense of dedication and personal responsibility within our students so that their individual successes will have an impact on a larger number of their peers. In order to do this, we need to continue to explore a wider range of monitoring methods.

 

Goal #4

Develop electives that meet the needs of students but also meet the state requirements. some suggestions are to replace art survey with art history, add high school music electives to help distribute the electives throughout the department.

Develop a plan with school and district administrators to address the space and staff needs that accompany the addition of new classes
