March 14,  2012

Attendees: Terri Dushion, Sherry Carter, Cathi Lang, Anne Fortin, Kim Swett, Sharon Healey, Amy Hill, Jodi Lloyd, Kelly Wichland, and Darlene Rollins.

 

Financial Reports: Current total cash on hand $8097.76. The savings account balance is $5325.30 with $600 earmarked for 6th grade Camp Takodah and $275 for the library reading nook. The current checking account balance is $2772.48. Expenses paid since the February meeting included: $175 for carnations, $204.58 for movie night, and $34.92 for fun night decorations. Income included: $21 for box tops, $351.50 for carnations, $25 for game night, $454.20 movie night, and $100 Troy Fire Department donation.

 

Teacher Requests: No teacher requests this month.

 

PTO Decision Making: A reminder was provided to the PTO members that decision making for the PTO should occur at the meetings with email use reserved for reminders or last minute discussion. All members do not read emails promptly and may miss out on important information if email is used as the means of communication and decision making.

 

Peanut Carnival: The family fun night will be held on March 30th 2012 from 6:30 - 7:30PM. We will have games and entertainers available. Students can obtain a bag of “peanuts” for a canned good donation. BASP students will make a jail to be used for photos to be taken and printed by Cathi Lang. We will ask about the ability to have snow cones at the event and we will make popcorn. Sharon will be at this station. A flyer is being updated to include the new information about the event and will be sent home on 3/23/12. Jodi will pick up popcorn, oil, and circus peanuts. All games and events have been assigned to PTO members for monitoring.

 

Movie Night: We will ask if April 13, 2012 is available to show “Alvin and the Chipmunks - Chipwrecked.” We will serve hamburgers and hotdogs. Sherry Carter has agreed to pick up the food items for the evening. Kelly Wichland will check to see if the date is available.

 

Egg Hunt: The PTO is planning to host an egg hunt on April 7th from 11AM - 12PM at the school on the field. Kelly will check to see if we can use the multipurpose room in the event of rain. We will have eggs to be placed on the field per age groups of K-3 and 4-6. A bunny will be visiting during the event. Terri will contact the selectboard to see if the common sign can be used. A notice will be sent home about the event on 3/30/12.

 

Yearbook: Darlene and Terri have begun work on the yearbook. As photos are downloaded assignments to other PTO members will begin to assist in creating the pages. The next yearbook meeting is planned for 3/21/12 at 6PM.

 

Book Fair: The book fair will be delivered on April 2, 2012. The fair will be open during parent / teacher conferences on 4/4, 4/5, and 4/6. PTO members will be present to staff the fair. April 3 will be a student day to come to the fair. A notice regarding the fair and the flyer provided by Scholastic will be sent home on 3/30/12.

 

Old business: The process of investigating the cost of a new laminator and popcorn machine continues. As pricing becomes available further discuss will occur regarding the possible purchase of these items.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 11th at 6:00 pm.
