Medication Prescribed medication may be taken during the school day only when it cannot be taken at home. The school nurse must administer this medication. In the event the nurse is absent, the Principal or his designee may administer the prescribed medication. Medication to be taken by students shall be brought to the school by the parent, guardian or student. It shall be delivered in the original prescription container and bear the appropriate information (e.g. student's name, name of physician, prescription number, date and dosage). When a student takes the prescribed medication, an appropriate entry in ink shall be made in the register provided for that purpose. Before medication can be administered to a student, the parent or guardian of the student must sign an authorization form to be filed in the student's health record. The Health Office is a very busy place. Students are asked to restrict visits to times of extreme illness or injury. Students must sign into the health office. General frequenting, especially during academic class periods, will be unacceptable, monitored, and reported to the Assistant Principal. Only students with health related problems should be given passes to the health office.
Special Note: If the health office is closed, all students with health related problems should report to the Assistant Principal's office.
