Unapproved Minutes for the Meeting of August 27, 2007

 

 

 

The Policy Committee met at 5:50 pm on August 27, 2007 in the Teachers Lounge. Committee members in attendance were Jonathan Kenyon, Ken Colby, Gene White, and Sue Oerman. Committee members James Carnie, Bill Felton, and Tim Peloquin were unable to attend. Also in attendance were: Dr. Kenneth Dassau, Superintendent of Schools; Colline Dreyfuss, School Board Chair.

 

  1. Approval of the minutes moved by K. Colby; seconded by J. Kenyon.

  1. Public Comments: None

 

  1. Bidding Requirements, Policy DJE

 

G. White refreshed everyone’s memory about this policy. We have not had the opportunity to bring it to the full committee until this meeting. K. Colby makes a motion – To accept the policy as stated and pass to the Full Board. J. Kenyon seconds motion.

VOTE: 4 0 0 3

 

  1. G. White talks about amending the “Committee Assignment Policy”. G. White will be bring that policy to a future meeting to discuss.

   

6:05 pm – K. Dassau arrives

 

  1. Behavoior Management and Intervention, Policy JLDBA.

 

This policy is mandated by state law. S. Oerman makes a motion – To accept the policy as written. K. Colby seconded. K. Dassau would like to look at policies JIC, JICD, and JLD about what is stated about Corporal punishment.

 

6:20 pm – K. Colby departs

 

K. Dassau was looking up on the internet for the above mentioned policies. Corporal Punishment is Policy JKA. JLD doesn’t exist in our current manual.

 

6:37 pm – C. Dreyfuss arrives

 

More discussion followed concerning Corporal Punishment. There was a general discussion about these policies. The policies were tabled until the next meeting.

 

The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 17, 2007 at 5:45 pm in the Conference Room.

 

  1. Meeting ended at 7:00 pm, there was no quorum available to make a motion.
